Race Details

Round the Rock started life in 2008 as the RMPAC Silver Jubilee 10k, after which it was decided to hold the race on an annual basis, with the new name of Round the Rock voted for by club members. 

The race starts and finishes at the Blues Club Grove Road, Portland. This is the home ground of Portland United Football Club, where parking, toilets and changing facilities are available. To get there by road head for Weymouth then follow the signs for Portland on the A354. Follow the main road to the top of Portland to the Heights Hotel roundabout. Go straight across the roundabout (second exit) to Easton. After approximately 300 yards you will pass the Chesil Beach Motors Garage and the Recycling Center which will be on your left. Once you have passed them take the next turning on the left, which is Grove Road. The PUFC ground is approximately 300 yards on your left. If using a Satnav enter the postcode DT5 1DP.

If you are travelling by bus catch the Route 1 service from the Kings Statue, Weymouth and ask for the Grove Corner stop. PUFC ground is approx. 300 yards along Grove Rd on the left. 

The Route

The route is undulating, predominately on tarmac roads and pavements, and takes you around the top of the Isle of Portland in a figure of eight, with a short loop of two and a half kilometers and a longer loop of seven and a half kilometers.

From the Blues you run up Grove Road, around the back of the YOI and then back down Grove Road. At the end of Grove Road turn left, go down Easton, down Wakeham and then along Southwell Street and into Southwell. From here the uphill climb starts, up Avalanche, Weston and Wide Street to the Heights. Then it’s round the back of the Heights and downhill (you will be pleased to hear!) to Easton lane and back to Grove Corner where you take a left turn and run back up Grove road to the finish which is back at the Blues club.

You will be too busy taking in the sights as you pass the prison, admire the breath taking sea views and run past Pennsylvania castle to notice the distance you have covered!

On the day entry

If the event has not sold out, on the day entry will be available and there will be an additional £2 fee for any on the day entries. However, this race has sold out for the past two years and we are expecting it to be a sell out again in 2019 as once again this is a DRRL race.

Number Collection

Registration is open from 08:30 and will close promptly at 10:15am. Please dont be late. All numbers are to be collected on the day.

EA Registration, alterations to entrants details or swapping 

To receive the affiliated runner discounted price, the Full on Sport entry process requires club runners to enter their EA number in order to automatically generate their club from the EA system. If your number is not recognised or it does not generate the correct club, then you must speak to your club membership secretary, or check it online via https://myathletics.englandathletics.org/licencecheck/ to resolve the issue.

You will have access to update your details on the Full on Sport up to 17:00 on Friday 9th August 2019. After this time no amendments can be made by you the entrant or by us the organiser.

Entrants can also can transfer their entry to another runner via the Full on Sport Website. Again this facility will be available until 17:00 on Friday 9th August 2019. 

All updates are your responsibility and these can be carried out till the cut off time. Once this cut off time is reached no further alterations to entries can be made by you the entrant or us the organiser. 

Reserve List

Once the race is full a waiting list will be in operation. Once you have registered to be on the waiting list it will be on a first come, first served basis. If a place becomes available the next person on the list will receive an email inviting them to sign up for the race. This invite will stay open for a set period before the place is then offered to the next person on the list. This waiting list is operated by Full on Sport. Please do not contact the race director to ask to be added to the list or moved up the list. All entries are to be carried out via this website. 

To alter your details or to transfer your entry to another runner please follow the following instructions:

1. Log into your www.fullonsport.com account using your email address and password.
2. Once logged in, click on your username and select ‘my entries’.
3. Now you can click edit against the event entry you would like to transfer or edit.
4. You can now edit all of your data fields to update your entry or replace your details with the new participants details taking your place. However this entry will still stay under your Full On Sport account and you may still receive the race emails.
5. Once you have made the changes click save and the entry is now transferred or edited.
